Qing Xie is currently Director of the Department of Infectious Disease at Ruijin Hospital and Director of the Severe Viral Hepatitis Clinical Center at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, as well as a director of Shanghai Clinical Quality Control Center of Infectious Diseases. Also Prof.Xie is the vice Chairman of Chinese Medical Association of Infectious Diseases Branch, the Chairman of Shanghai Medical Association of Infectious Diseases Branch, and Consulting Expert for the Center for Drug Evaluation. She is also a member of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the liver and the infectious disease society of China. Professor Xie obtained an MS in Clinical Medicine (Infectious Disease) from Shanghai Second Medical University in 1988. From 2000 to 2003, she worked at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Medical Center, Houston, USA performing hepatology research as a postdoctoral fellow. Professor Xie’s research focuses on the clinical management of viral hepatitis B and C, viral infection and host immunity, pathogenesis of liver injury, and liver fibrosis. She has served as principal investigator in many multicenter clinical trials involving HBV and HCV liver diseases, and has built a long-term follow-up clinical database and sample bank for HCV- and HBV-infected patients. Professor Xie has published over 100 articles and is a member of the editorial board of several journals including the Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases. She is also the associate editor of two books: Hepatitis C-Clinical diagnosis and treatment, Drug-Induced and Toxic Liver Disease.
