Biography

Dr. Rene Oliveros is an invasive cardiologist with clinical, teaching and clinical research skills. He was an invasive cardiologist at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and continued that in private practice for 24 years. After joining the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2006, He became more interested in the field of hypertension and have started an Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring service at the VA Hospital. This service was non-existing prior to my arrival. He started a research project with two cardiology fellows to study the influence of stressful night duty upon different blood pressure parameters in young medical residents. Also he have completed two projects with cardiology fellows studying central blood pressure determination in a population of hypertensive patients and another project to measure central aorta to femoral artery velocity using a Doppler techniques in diabetic patients. Both projects were presented in 2014 at the American Society of Hypertension Annual Scientific Meeting.He is board certified in cardiology and He is a Hypertension specialist, designated by the American Society of Hypertension. He have given community presentations on hypertension and risk factors in coronary artery disease.
