Rosanna Martinelli is from February 2011 Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Salerno and 2004-2011 Head of Core Facility Microarray CEINGE Advanced Biotechnology of Naples. She graduated in 1982 in Biological Sciences at the University of Naples "Federico II", with distinction from 1983 to 1988 he attended the PhD in Biochemical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Naples "Federico II ".
From 1990 to 1994 Postdoctoral Associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Rockefeller University in New York (USA). From 2001 to 2010, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Naples "Federico II". As part of the Core Microarray Facility, it has played a variety of activities including production, development and use of technology both for diagnosis and research. In particular the development of a prototype of a diagnostic kit for the analysis of mutations associated with the development of cystic fibrosis in collaboration with the industrial partner Nuclear Laser Medicine. Very extensive experience gained in the determination of gene expression profiles at both transcriptional and epigenetic biomarkers for the detection of associated with the development of degenerative diseases including: the molecular characterization of transgenic mice with small-cell carcinoma ( SCLC), induced by the expression of oncoproteins E6 / E7 of HPV, the analysis of the expression of genes involved in iron metabolism for the identification of genes responsible for hereditary hemochromatosis is not associated with mutations in the HFE gene, change in expression gene in cell lines of human chronic myelogenous leukemia responsible for resistance to imatinib and expression analysis of microRNAs in patients with severe obesity.
