In July 2013, Dr. Steve Morse was appointed Director of the Hospitality and Tourism program in the College of Business at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee. He is an economist and associate professor teaching courses in hospitality and tourism business demand analysis. For the last ten years, he was on the faculty and director of the Tourism Institute at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He is a frequent speaker at national and state hospitality and tourism conferences, and conducts workshops and seminars for regional and local tourism organizations, governments, and Chambers of Commerce to better understand the impact of tourist spending on the economic development of local economies. He earned his B.S. from the University of Georgia, and his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
