Suresh Mahalingam Principal Research Leader Institute for Glycomics  Griffith University Australia

Biography
Dr. Suresh Mahalingam is Principal Research Leader at Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, Australia. Dr. Suresh Mahalingam has served on many review panels, has reviewed for many journals . Dr Suresh Mahalingam has many peer reviewed publications and is funded by the NIH, VA , NSF and several foundations. Dr. Suresh Mahalingam research interests include to define the cellular and molecular processes by which arthrogenic viruses (chikungunya and Ross River viruses) cause and/or exacerbate rheumatic disease, to define the immune response to dengue virus and characterize the mechanisms of disease using a mouse model, to define the mechanisms employed by alphaviruses to evade the early interferon response within the infected host, to analyse the molecular determinants of alphavirus virulence and fitness during transition from mosquito vectors to the vertebrate host, to define the mechanisms that contribute to human airway disease and asthma associated with human metapneumovirus virus, respiratory syncytial virus and rhinovirus infections, and to define the role that the immune response may have on disease pathogenesis.
