Dr. Toshiyo Tamura received his BS and MS degrees from Keio University, Japan, in 1971 and 73, respectively and Ph.D. from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1980. He is a Director, Department of Gerontechnology, National Institute for Longevity Sciences, Japan. He also holds several adjunct positions in universities in Japan. He has served as a chair of IEEE/EMBS Tokyo Chapter ( recently Japan Chapter) in 1996-2000, and is the current Asian Pacific representative
for the EMBS. He is the Vice chair of the international committee of the Japanese Society of Medical electronics and Biological Engineering
His research interests include biomedical instrumentation, biosignal processing telemedicine and home care technology. His research has
resulted in over 50 reviewed articles.
