Biography

Andreas Hensel currently works at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry, University of Münster. Interested topics are: Phytochemistry, in vitro Pharmacology. Isolation and detailed structural characterisation of natural products from plants are combined with functional testing of the compounds projects in different in vitro assays. Main projects: - Skin active natural compounds ("keratinocytes Engineering"), - anti-virulence and anti-adhesive compounds with inhibiting action against the interaction of pathogens to human host cells (e.g. Helicobacter pylori, uropathogenic E. colior, Porphyromonas gingivalis, HSV-1, flue virus) - Glycobiology - Analytical standardization of plant extracts for phytotherapeutical use.
