Giulio Iovine

Biography

Giulio G.R. Iovine, Geologist Scientist at CNR-IRPI (Italian National Research Council, Research Institute for Geo-Hydrologic Protection) and Professor of Engineering Geology (on contract, from 2000 to 2007) at the University of Calabria. His main research interests are on modelling of macroscopic processes like: slope movements (mainly mudflows, earth flows), and subordinately soil erosion, and lava flows. He is interested in model development and testing, in the techniques of calibration and validation, and in sensitivity analyses. The ultimate objective of the studies is the development of innovative techinques of susceptibility/hazard/risk evaluation and mapping, based on combined geo-environmental, modelling, and GIS analyses. He is the Author of more than 60 scientific publications in Journals or Conference Proceedings, Guest Editor of Special Issues of Journals and of Proceedings, Author of thematic maps and technical-scientific reports.
