Professor Kermit Davis received his PhD in 2001 from The Ohio State University in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a specialization in Occupational Ergonomics. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental health at the University of Cincinnati. He is the graduate program director of the Environmental and Occupational Hygiene program. His research focuses on occupational ergonomics and biomechanics, particularly investigating the synergistic effect of physical and mental demands on the spine biomechanical response. Based on this research, he has received several awards and honors, such as: Alphonse Chapanis Student Paper, Volvo Award for Low Back Pain Research in Biomechanical Studies, and Alice Hamilton Award. He is an Associate Editor of Human Factors and Journal of Agromedicine, as well as serves on 4 other editorial boards. He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles. He is a fellow of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and a member of 3 other professional societies.
