Thrombophlebitis is defined as the inflammation of the wall of a vein with associated thrombosis which often occurs in the legs during pregnancy. The symptoms were redness of skin or inflammation over the area, swelling of the ankle or foot, pain in the affected part of the body.
The extrapolated prevalence and the current statistics for thrombophlebitis in Belgium were found to be 992,694 for 67,503,205 populations.
Thrombophlebitis treatment includes analgesics which reduce the pain, anticoagulants to prevent the new clotting formation, thrombolytics to reduce the existing clot and finally the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Thrombophlebitis usually responds to prompt medical treatment.
