The disease caused by an infection of bacterial species, belonging to vibro genus is called vibriosis. Vibrio parahemolyticus or Vibrio vulnificus are common bacterial genus causing vibriosis. These bacteria damages the inner wall of the intenstine, leading to the cause of diarrhea and other related symptoms. Vibriosis is caused by eating sea food contaminated with Vibrio parahemolyticus . Vibrio vulnificus may enter into blood stream by passing through intestinal wall.
According to the recent survey Until 1996, infections caused by V. parahaemolyticus were usually associated with diverse serovars. The increased rate of detection of pathogenic V. parahaemolyticus within the marine environment might be attributed to a decreased prevalence of total V. parahaemolyticus rather than to an increased abundance of pathogenic strains.
Treatment of vibrosis includes, lost fluids are being replaced by special fluids called oral rehydration salts. Sometimes fluid loss is so severe that fluids need to be given through the veins.
Research in Vibriosis
The organism causing vibrosis is very delicate. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is one of the techniques developed to help cost effective and practical diagnositic testing strategies for identifying cattle. Researchers across the globe have developed a real time PCR assay for vibrio
