Chlamydia infection is a common sexually transmitted infection in humans caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia is a major infectious cause of human genital and eye disease. Chlamydia infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide.The prevalence rate of chlamydia infection in Brazil was 11%. As per the study conducted by “Right Diagnosis from healthgrades” there were 2,301,263 cases of chlamydia in Brazil. In recent years techniques like Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT), such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), transcription mediated amplification (TMA), and the DNA strand displacement amplification (SDA) are used to identify chlamydia. Most commonly prescribed antibiotics for chlamydia are azithromycin and doxycycline.
