The risk of cardiovascular events during high- versus moderate-intensity aerobic exercise among 4,846 patients was studied. The long-term effect of HIIE on cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems in cardiac patients has not been investigated yet. It is important to take into consideration the fact that excessive training intensity and abrupt increases in training volume increase the risk for injury to bones, joint and muscles.
