Nothing more than bed rest and plenty of fluids to treat the flu. But in some cases, your doctor may prescribe an antiviral medication, such as oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or zanamivir (Relenza). If taken soon after you notice symptoms, these drugs may shorten your illness by a day or so and help prevent serious complications.
Childhood Influenza Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (CIVSS) 2015/2016 starts from 15 October 2015. All Hong Kong children who are aged 6 months to less than 6 years OR attending a kindergarten or child care centre in Hong Kong are entitled to a HK$160 Government subsidy per dose of seasonal influenza vaccination received from private doctors enrolled in the CIVSS. In Hong Kong, influenza is usually more common in periods from January to March and from July to August. It takes about 2 weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body. Get vaccinated early to ensure protection.
