    Myopia, commonly called shortsightedness, is a condition in which light is focussed in front of the retina, resulting in blurred vision. Refractive surgery can reduce or even eliminate your need for glasses or contacts.The most common procedures are performed with an excimer laser. Recent prevalence surveys in China using cycloplegic autorefraction showed that 16.2% of school-aged children in rural areas of northern China aged between 5 and 15 years were myopic.
