Devanjan Sikder, D.V.M., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor. Prior to joining Sanford-Burnham, Dr. Sikder was Research Assistant Professor at the Division of Translational Research, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he also completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Professor Thomas Kodadeks laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in genetic engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India, and his D.V.M. from Bidhan Chandra Agriculture University, India. His major research interests are in animal models of obesity, central and peripheral mechanisms controlling food intake and energy expenditure; brown fat development and differentiation. Dr Sikders research also focuses on the regulation of biochemical events that together orchestrate invasiveness and cancer metastasis.
