Nigussie Haregeweyn has completed his Ph.D in 2006 from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He is currently a Visiting Assoc. Prof. at the Arid Land Research Center, Japan. His research area and interest includes modeling of soil erosion, soil degradation; analyzing the impact of different soil conservation practices on reducing soil erosion, and climate change adaption and mitigation; understanding the mechanisms of sediment production, transport and delivery; modeling of reservoir sedimentation; application of hydrological modeling techniques for understanding of soil and water management practices; application of GIS and remote sensing in land resources planning, modeling and assessment. He has published more than 20 papers in reputed journals and invited reviewer for several reputable journals. He served as Scientific Committee member and invited speaker for some international conferences.
