Riaz A. Khan
Professor Khan is a nano-biotechnologist with Medicinal-Organic Chemistry background and, has over 27 years of combined teaching and, research experience in various capacities dealing with drug development & delivery, chemical & pharmaceutical Products Development for research and, technology development for Commercial purposes for human health improvement programs of various academic and, industrial institutions. His research interests included natural and, synthetic products development, modeling into the complex chemical structures and, biochemical phenomenon towards understanding of the processes at molecular levels with a perspective on nanoscale solutions for core problems in interaction, stability, energy profile and, matrix characteristics. As a Chemical Technologist, he has contributed in route finalizations, cost-effective process development, validations and, impurity profiling for a number of drugs, drug intermediates, APIs and other synthons belonging to Erythromycin macrolides and, Cephalosporin class of drug candidates. His current research interests include high impact genetic diseases, neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s & Parkinson diseases) towards finding a solution, may be in part, for drug design, discovery, development and, delivery programs also dealing with nano-biosciences aspects in these domains. He has about 50 publications, one patent filed and, several presentations at conferences and, symposia in international conferences. He was nominated to the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), been general member of American Chemical Society, American Nano Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, New York Academy of Sciences, Canadian Institute of Chemistry, Indian Chemical Society, Indian Science Congress, Indian Association for Advancement of Science including other learned societies at one point of time or, other. He is currently on deputation and, is a full professor of Chemistry. He is associated at Department of Chemistry, MRIU and, adjunct professor in other universities in India. He has been involved in graduate teaching and, managing a team of scientist, post-doctoral scholars, research trainees, graduate and, Pharma D. students and, has looked after the research and management coordination of activities at different centers/universities in various roles as professor, member of the core team and, coordinator. He has also served several universities in India as Professor of Chemistry and, in various research capacities in universities in US and, abroad and, has been associated with pharmaceutical industries in various capacities as research scientist, project leader and, vice-president.
