Unievrsité du Littoral Côte d’Opale
Weidong Chen received his B.S. (1982) in Radio-Physics from Zhangshan University (Guangzhou, China), and M.S. (1988) and Ph.D. (1991) from the University of Sciences & Technologies of Lille (France). From 1991 to 1993, he was an assistant Professor with the University of Sciences & Technologies of Lille where he worked on the development of laser sideband-based heterodyne spectrometers operating in the THz and its application to molecular rotation spectroscopy. Since 1993, he has been on the faculty at University of the Littoral Opal Coast as Lecturer, obtained his State Ph.D. (HDR) in 2001 and became full Professor in 2003 (1st class since 2008).
His current research interests include: (1) Developments of photonic instrumentation for applied spectroscopy; (2) Optical metrology (concentration, isotope ratio) of trace gases for applications in atmospheric photochemistry and environmental science; (3) Optical parametric laser source generation by frequency conversion and its applications to applied spectroscopy
