Cardiogenic Embolism

Cardiogenic embolism is obstruction of blood or struking of any foreign matter in blood vessels while travelling through the blood stream. Blood clot travels through the blood stream where it can lodge in artery of brain, blocks the flow of oxygen-rich blood leads to lack of oxygen results in damage, destruction or death of tissue in brain beyond the affected area results stroke.

“Cardiogenic embolism” refers to embolization from a cardiac source to a target organ. Cardiogenic Embolism is possible cardiac conditions that predispose patients to systemic emboli leads to silent brain infarcts, vascular dementia as a result of multiple embolic infarcts, and the role of trans cranial Doppler imaging in in the detection of embolic signals. Brain is the organ most frequently targeted by cardiac emboli, and these emboli are responsible for all ischemic strokes.
