Cell science and Cell Biology

Cell biology is the study of the cell, its structure and function, and it revolves around the concept that the cell is the fundamental unit of life. Cells are considered the basic units of life, because they come in discrete and easily recognizable, self-sufficient packages. That's because all cells are surrounded by a structure called the cell membrane, also referred to as the plasma membrane which, serves as a border between the cell's internal and external environments. In the broad picture, cell biology stresses the function and structure of a cell, from the most general properties shared by all cells, to the unique, highly intricate functions particular to specialized cells.
