Dental Pharmacology

Track10: Over the last 50 years or so the subject of Pharmacology has developed explosively with the result that there are now many groups of potent drugs used for the treatment of disease. Dental therapeutics may be rational, when the cause of oral disease is known and a specific drug with recognised properties is directed. New drugs are being introduced on a regular basis as well as the use of alternative therapies which can impact day to day life. The most common types of drugs used by a dentist or dental professional are analgesics, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and anaesthetics. Each drug works in a different way to address whatever be the dental issue.
