Influenza Treatment & Therapies

Influenza treatment and therapies are largely supportive and consists of bed rest, increased fluid consumption, cough suppressants, and antipyretics and analgesics. Patients should be encouraged to stay home if they become ill, to avoid close contact with people who are sick, to wash their hands often, and to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth. Patients who develop flu like illness (i. e, fever with either cough or sore throat) should be strongly encouraged to self-isolate in their home for 7 days after the onset of illness or at least 24 hours after symptoms have resolved, whichever is longer. To seek medical care, patients should contact their health care providers to report illness (by telephone or other remote means) before seeking care at a clinic, physician's office, or hospital.

With the grand success of Vaccines Asia Pacific 2015 conference, Conference Series LLC is organizing the “5th Annual Congress on Influenza, Respiratory Diseases & Infections: Vaccines and Therapeutics (IRDI Vaccines 2016)” will be scheduled during December 01-02, 2016 at Atlanta, USA. IRDI Vaccines 2016 bring together the Global leaders in Immunology and relevant fields to present their research at this exclusive scientific program. IRDI Vaccines 2016 Organizing Committee also invites Young investigators at every career stage to submit abstracts reporting their latest scientific findings in oral and poster sessions.

The H1N1 strain is included in the seasonal influenza vaccine. There are also medications available to help in the prevention and treatment of flu. These are called antiviral medications. Most people with previously reported H1N1 flu have been able to recover fully without medical attention and without antiviral medications. Patients most often require hospitalization when influenza exacerbates underlying chronic diseases. Some patients, especially elderly individuals, may be too weak to care for themselves alone at home. On occasion, the direct pathologic effects of influenza may necessitate hospitalization. Most commonly, this is influenza pneumonia.
