Magneto Hydrodynamics

Electrically conducting fluid such as plasmas, salt water and liquid metal contain some magnetic properties and studying properties of such fluids is called magneto-hydrodynamic. MHD can be explained by two different theorems one is naiver- stroke equation for fluid dynamics and Maxwell equation for electromagnetism, which induces the concept that magnetic field can induce current in moving conducting fluid. There are multiple example based on the application of the MHD, Example Ranging from geophysics ,earthquakes ,astrophysics ,sensors etc. the concept of MHD was first introduced by Hannes Alfven for which he received novel prize in 1970 in physics.

Theory of magneto-hydrodynamic has been very influential in carrying out some of the major discoveries of the modern science. based on the conception of MHD Glatzmaier and Paul Robert made the supercomputer model of the earth interior .Researches are going on to study the ULF (ultra-low frequency signal ) prior to the  event of earthquake  as it was witnessed in 1989 Loma prieta earthquake in California ,hence it might be possible to develop early warning system for earthquake.  magneto-hydrodynamic also applies to aerospace engineering where sensors are made for precision instrument in measuring the angular internal velocity of navigation system . Magneto-hydrodynamic theory has also proved to be very important in engineering, MHD propeller has been developed which can propel a vessel just by electric and magnetic field and with ought any moving parts .hence there are immense opportunity for researchers in this subject.
