Nanomaterials and Nanoparticle

Nanomaterials are generally referred to those particles whose size scale of 1 – 100 nm in at least one dimension. Thin films and engineered surfaces come under 1-D nanomaterial category, nanotubes and nanowires come under 2-D nanomaterials and Nanoparticles such as Fullerenes, Dendrimers, Quantum dots, etc. come under 3-D nanomaterial whose size is less than 100nm. Materials with the structure at the nanoscale often have unique optical, electronic, or mechanical properties. These properties of nanomaterials make them highly resourceful in the field of catalysis, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, nanomedicine, air and water purification, electronics, fuel cell etc. Nanostructured metal-oxide thin films are receiving a growing attention for the realization of gas sensors (NOx, CO, CO2, CH4 and aromatic hydrocarbons) with enhanced sensitivity and selectivity.
