Retinal detachment occurs when retina separates from the back of the eye. It causes loss of vision may be partially or completely. The cells in the retina may be severely deprived of oxygen. There are different types of retinal detachment: rhegmatogenous, tractional, exudative. Causes of retinal detachment may be posterior vitreous detachment, extreme nearsightedness, trauma to eye, being over 50 years old etc.Various processes in eye care include critical awareness, eye examinations, rehabilitation and long-term continuity of care which are carried out through health centers. Eye care is an integral aprt of ophthalmic sciences. There are several eye care societies and organisations who works to bring these services at door step.

The major programms includes diagnostic eye camps, school children screening camps, work place camps, eye donation awarness programs etc.
