Scholarly peer review is the process of subjecting an author's scholarly work, research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field, before a paper describing this work is published in a journal. The work may be accepted, considered acceptable with revisions, or rejected. Peer review requires a community of experts in a given (narrowly defined) field, who are qualified and able to perform reasonably impartial review.
Cytogenetics can be defined as that deals with the study of structure and function of the cell, mainly focussing on the structure and composition of the cell. Cytogenetics mainly studies about chromosomes and thier role in heridity and it mainly deals with Cytogenetic tests are usuallly carried out during the time of pregnancy to determine any structural or chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. As the changes occur in the chromosomes, thus disrupting the genes and finally leading to the production of fatal or abnormal proteins, thereby resulting in mild to severe or lethal birth defects.
