Biography

Ahmed A. Abdala is Associate Professor and Deputy Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department, The Petroleum Institute. Before joining the petroleum Institute in 2006, he was assistant professor at Suez Canal University (2004-2006). He has also been research associate at Princeton University (2003-2004). Dr. Abdala obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering and Fibers & Polymer Science from North Carolina State University. He also holds an M.S. in Chemical Engineering (North Carolina State University), M.S. in Petrochemicals, and B.S. in Petroleum Refining (Suez Canal University, Egypt). Dr. Abdala research focuses on the area of polymers and nanomaterials including synthesis, modification, and applications of nanomaterials, polymer nanocomposites, polymer membranes for gas separation, and applications of polymers and surfactants in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). Dr. Abdala is holder of 4 US and one European patents. His research articles in the area of nanomaterials, polymers, and polymer nanocomposites have received over 3000 citations.
