Baylor College of Medicine
Texas, USA

Achuth Padmanabhan received his bachelors (Bachelor of Technology) in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, India in 2005. As an undergraduate he was selected to perform research at some of the leading laboratories in India such as the Indian Institute of Sciences (Bangalore), and the SN Bose Institute for Basic Sciences (Kolkata). Achuth subsequently received his PhD working under Prof.Charles Bieberich at the University of Maryland Baltimore Co., in 2011. His work with Dr.Bieberich uncovered new cell-signaling mechanisms that regulate the stability of key oncogenes (MYC) and tumor suppressors (NKX3.1), which could potentially have immense therapeutic potential in treatment of cancer. Achuth is currently working as a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Prof. Mark Hochstrasser at the department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University. He is a recipient of many prestigious fellowships and Awards from the Govt. of India such as the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (Young Scientist Fellowship; 1999-2001), the Biology Scholarship (2001), Mylapore Academy Award (1999) and was also selected for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) program for youth in leadership in science.
