Biography

Anna Lauber-Biason acquired her MD Degree at the University of Padua Italy. She obtained her Specialty in Endocrinology with Franco Mantero and then took up a postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, in the laboratory of Evan Simpson and Michael Waterman where she studied the molecular basis of steroid synthesis defects. Since 1992 she is research group leader at the University Children’s Hospital in Zurich Switzerland where she continued her work on the mechanisms of sex development in humans. She described two new clinical entities leading to DSD in patients the WNT4 deficiency the BiasonLauber syndrome and CBX2 defects. Besides her clinical duties she manages the diagnostic steroid laboratory and of the genetic analysis of endocrine diseases eg CAH MODY. She is a founding member of the Disorder of Sex Development multidisciplinary team at the University Children’s Hospital for the management of these difficult cases.
