Biography

Dr. Ashok Amin obtained his PhD degree from MS University of Baroda, India in 1987 and completed his Post Doc from New York University, USA in 1991. He has an affiliation of Professorship in School of Biomedical Engineering, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest University, USA. He has also managed all translational research enhancements/management (pre and post grant/clinical trial), operations (research audits, IRB, risk management, legal) and compliance (CDC, HIPPA, NIH, EPA, NSF, DOD) from 2007 to 2009. He is the holder of many grants like National Institute of Health; New York Arthritis Foundation; National Arthritis Foundation; Hoffman-La Roche; Ciba-Geigy Pharm. Co.; Schering-Plough Pharm. Co.; Oxford GlycoSystems.; Collagenex Inc.; Park-Davis; DuPont-Merck Pharm. Co.; Yamanouchi Pharm. Co.; Forest Labs; Genomics Collaborative; Ranbaxy Laboratories; Gene Logic Inc.; Merckle GmbH; and Merck; and internal institutional grants. So far Dr. Amin has published more than 90 papers in International publication and many more are on pipeline.

Research Interest

Dr. Amin's research interest include In vivo and in vitro immune responses, Discovery of therapeutic targets and biomarkers, validation and development, Genomics (SNP, haplotyping, proteomics and gene expression arrays) of inflammatory diseases and cancer, The structure of immunoglobulin and Ig receptor interactions and signal transduction, Bioinformatics and biomarkers for personalized medicine in complex diseases, Gene mining, bioinformatics, and pharmacogenomics in human arthritis, Host-parasite interactions and mechanism of innate response, Regulation of ROS and mechanism of action of nitric oxide and eicosanoids, Pharmacological intervention and Gene Therapy, Clinical research, clinical trials and tissue banking, Drug testing in animal models, transgenic and knockout animals and Development of diagnostics tests and small medical equipment.
