Biography

Dr Ashokan Arumugam is an Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapist and he has received his doctoral degree (hamstring injuries) at the School of Physiotherapy, University of Otago, New Zealand in 2014. He is an avid researcher with some peer-reviewed and invited articles in international journals. He has worked as a clinician and/or an academic in various capacities at many institutions in India and New Zealand. He is an editorial board member of four other journals (Journal of Medical Science and Clinical Research, International Journal of Pharma and Bio Sciences, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation – International, and Jacobs Journal of Anatomy) and International Editorial Advisory Board Member of Indian Journal of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. He has been a peer-reviewer of manuscripts for journals such as Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, Physical Therapy in Sport, Medical Devices: Evidence and Research, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation – International. He has received several awards for his academic achievements including but not limited to University of Otago Postgraduate Scholarship (2010-2013), two awards for teaching activities (2011, 2012) from the Department of Anatomy, Otago School of Medical Sciences (New Zealand), and Scroll of Honor Award (2013) from Saveetha University (India). He has been a resource person for seminars/workshops on Manual Therapy and Manuscript Writing at some institutions in South India.

Electromyography, Hamstring injury, Pelvic compression belt, External Pelvic compression, Unipedal stance, Athletic injury, Muscle strength dynamometer, Orthotic devices, Craniocervical flexion test, Anticipatory postural adjustment, Motor control, systematic reviews.
