Bibiana Chan completed her Ph.D. at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2007. She worked at the Black Dog Institute for 5 years and then as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity. She completed her role as the Research Manager for a study ‘Outcomes of Multidisciplinary Care in General Practice’ and a trial on ‘SNAP - Lifestyle Intervention by Community Nurses’. In 2009, she obtained a grant to conduct ‘Assertive Communication Programs’ to help migrants manage their acculturation stress.
Her research interests are medical anthropology, chronic disease management, mental health promotion, inter-professional collaboration and cultural competency. She is an ambassador for ‘beyondblue’ and the recipient of the 2010 Churchill Fellowship. During the Fellowship, she visited University of Yale, US and University of McGill, Canada to foster research collaboration to expand the Assertiveness training.
