Biography

Dr. Daoyan Wei is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in China. He then received his postdoctoral training at University of Michigan at Ann Arbor focusing on the regulation of bone regeneration, and at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center studying the role of transcription factors in regulating the angiogenesis of GI cancers. Dr. Wei is an author of more than fifty peer-reviewed papers and several book chapters. He has also served as a reviewer for several journals and grant agencies. Dr. Wei’s research work has been supported by a number of federal and nonfederal funding agencies including NIH (NCI), AACR and AICR.

Research Interest

Current research interests of Dr. Wei are to understand molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of GI cancers, especially pancreatic and gastric cancers by using genetically engineered mouse models, cell culture systems and human tissue samples.
