Dr. Dawei Huang is the head of the DAVID Bioinformatics Laboratory at SAIC-F, where he leads a world-class bioinformatics team to support various high-throughput genomics studies (such as Next Generation Sequencing, Microarray, etc.) for investigators at NIAID/NIH. Dr. Huang is an expert in the fields of bioinformaticsanalysis with over twenty-year working experiences in the field of medical research. His current focus is on the bioinformatics analysis of large-scale deep sequencing or microarray data. He has published over two dozens of scientific publications in well-known journals including Cell, Nature Proc., Neuron, Journal of Cell Biology, etc. Dr. Huang is also aworld-recognized expert in the field of new bioinformatics tool development. The best example is the DAVID Bioinformatics Online Tool ( developed in his group, which is well accepted in the world-wide genomic community with more than 10,000 citations. Prior to current position, Dr. Huang held senior positions in several research organizations in Canada and USA, including Gene Logic, Inc., Thallion Pharmaceutical, Inc., Montreal General Hospital. Dr. Huang obtained his M.D. degree from the Tianjin Medical University, China.

Research Interest

Dr. Dawei research interests are:

1.    Data analysis on deep sequencing data (next generation sequencing)
2.    Data analysis on Affy microarray data (gene expression, alternative splicing, promoter)
3.    Novel bioinformatics tool development for above two analysis
4.    Construct and integrate heterozygous biological data content in a centralized database
