Dr. Edward L. Goshorn has over forty three years of professional experience in the field of communication disorders. He has served as a direct provider of clinical services in both speech pathology and audiology. He was fortunate enough to be involved in building “first time” audiology programs at the Memphis VA Medical Center, first accredited audiology program at Louisiana Tech University, and later, the first doctor of audiology program at Louisiana Tech. These building experiences gave him great insight to the intricate internal workings of academe and to the multi-faceted aspects of the discipline of audiology. His research interests, although diverse, have focused on improving our understanding of the human communication process and how to evaluate it. He has over 70 presentations at national and international meetings and conventions and over 35 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Recently, he was named Chair of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi.
