Eunjung kim is an associate professor at the University of Washington School of Nursing. She obtained Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001. Since then, she has conducted 7 university-funded or NIH-funded studies. She also practices as a pediatric nurse practitioner at a local family clinic, where she provide advice related to parenting and child mental health to Korean immigrant children and their parents.
Her long-term research agenda is to establish a self-sustainable, faith-based, culturally and linguistically relevant child mental health promotion intervention in Korean churches. As the first step of achieving this goal, she received an R21 to pilot-test the Korean Parent Training Program to decrease the mental health disparity in Korean immigrant children. This project addresses two social determinants of health (i.e., culture and early childhood development) and their impact on minority child mental health disparities in Korean immigrant children.
