Biography

Dr. Mendez graduated from the Technological Institute of Monterrey (ITESM) in Electronic Systems Engineering in 1985. He obtained the Master Degree in Business Administration from FACPYA, UANL in 1996, and the Doctoral Degree in Mechatronics Engineering from CIDESI – Conacyt in 2005. In 1993 he obtained the Certification in Control Engineering and Process Automation by General Electric Industrial Drive Systems in Roanoke, Virginia, USA. He began his career in Machinery Manufacturing (FAMA-Vitro) as process automation engineer and in the Technological Institute of Monterrey (ITESM) in 1985 as an assistant professor. He worked at APM- IMSA in the steel hot rolling mill in the area of plant engineering and process automation. He was in charge of the control systems of the reversing and finishing mills. Participated in the commissioning and startup of the plant and was responsible for the critical variables of the quality of the final coil. His professional experience includes companies with global business vision: Schlumberger Flopetrol, FAMA-Vitro, Genetec Inforrey-Cydsa, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Soriana, HP, ICL, APM-IMSA, Jeunique Inc., Famsa, General Electric Aircraft Engines, Torrey, Leggett & Platt, Autozone, Lenomex, Iron Mountain, ALM&M, Comimsa, ITNL, ITESM, UR, CEDIM. He participates in several professional societies of Mexico, USA, Asia and Europe; He is currently a member of the Council of Graduate Master in Mechatronics Engineering from the Technological Institute of Nuevo Leon. He belongs to the Mexican National Research System - Level 1. He is the author of 42 papers published in international journals, and has participated in prestigious conferences, professional meetings and seminars in America, Asia and Europe.
