Biography

German Gomez trained with Dr. Carol Kruse at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and consequently gained extensive research experience in the field of brain tumor immunology and immunotherapy. His post-doctoral training was with Drs. Frank Furnari and Webster Cavenee at the Ludwig of Institute for Cancer Research at UC San Diego. At the Ludwig Institute, he studied mutant EGFR regulation of microRNAs in high grade malignant gliomas as well as mechanisms of resistance to EGFR inhibitors in glioma. Currently, Dr. Gomez is a project scientist in the laboratory of Dr. David Cheresh at UC San Diego studying the mechanisms by which integrin signaling drives cancer stemness and resistance to EGFR inhibitors in tumors of epithelial origin.
