In Kap Ko

Biography

Dr. Ko obtained BS and MS/PhD in Hanyang University (Seoul, Korea) and Kyoto University (Kyoto, Japan), respectively. After several years’ research experiences, Dr. Ko joined wake forest institute regenerative medicine (WFIRM) as a postdoc research fellow, followed by promotion to instructor in 2012. Currently, Dr. Ko is Assistant Professor of Regenerative Medicine, Wake Forest University School of Medicine and is cross-appointed to Translational Science.

Research Interest

Ko has been working on the fabrication of synthetic and natural materials for tissue engineering/regenerative medicine applications, cell-based therapy and development of tissue engineered tissues and organs. His recent research has focused on: 1) bioengineering of whole organ constructs such as kidney and liver toward clinical transplantation, 2) development of engineered tissue constructs and smart delivery systems for bioactive factors for skeletal muscle and kidney regeneration.
