Jadran Faganeli received PhD degree in Chemistry from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1984. He is currently professor of Environmental Chemistry at the University of Ljubljana and a Senior researcher at the Marine Biological Station of the National Institute of Biology in Piran, Slovenia. His primary research interests are focused on the biogeochemistry of organic matter in coastal waters, with special reference to formation and characterization of gels and macrogels (macroaggregates), and eutrophic lakes, and biogeochemistry of mercury in the contaminated coastal areas, especially in the northern Adriatic.
