My passion is art, visual thinking, creativity, and art education which has sustained thirty-three years of community service, teaching and curriculum development in secondary, adult, University and professional art, design and media technologies education, my ongoing artistic practice in photography, exhibiting nationally and internationally since 1974, and a commercial freelance photography and photojournalism business initiated in 1966.In August 1988, after eight years of teaching art and design in Universities, I took up my longest single appointment at La Trobe University, concurrently teaching part-time at Monash and Deakin Universities, Australia. In 2011 I relinquished my position as Head of Art and Design at LTU to take up my current position, Associate Professor in the Image, Deakin. My teaching an practice is constantly refreshed by my regularly published and exhibited research in which I critically reappraise visual attention through photomedia fundamentals, adapting selective focus and binocular vision.
