Biography

Dr. Jie Wu, M.D., PhD, is currently Professor and Director of Neurophysiology Laboratory at Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. He joined BNI in 1998 as a principal investigator, Director of Epilepsy Research and Director of Neurophysiology Laboratory. Since 2000, he established several research projects to study neuronal acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) function and pharmacology and the mechanisms of epileptogenesis in animal models and human epileptic tissues. During past 10 years, his laboratory has been well funded by NIH, Arizona State and Company. He published more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles and 5 book chapters. He carried out his postdoctoral training in both University of New Mexico (USA, 1994-1997) and Tohoku University School of Medicine (Japan, 1993-1994). He received his Ph.D. from Sun Yet-Sen University of Medical Sciences (China, 1985-1990) and his M.D. from Xuzhou Medical College (China, 1978-1983).
