Jordy Gosselt is working for the Department of Communication studies at the University of Twente (Enschede, the Netherlands). One of the central topics of the research of Jordy Gosselt is adolescents and risky products, which includes for example alcohol, tobacco and detrimental media products. In his research projects several factors are being considered, but the focus lies on the availability aspect (an important predictor of the onset of consumption and consumption-related consequences). Other research topics include: organizations in/and the media (public affairs, crisis communication), usage of traditional media, effects of media images on a young audience and the (tainted/forbidden fruit-) effects of warning pictograms and classification systems. Finally, he is interested in studies into the validity and reliability of methods of communication research (such as mysteryshop research, experimental research, content analysis, mystery calls and questionnaires).
