Biography

Judith Aponte is a Specialization Coordinator of the Community/Public Health Nursing (MS) Program and of the Community/Public Health Nursing/Urban Public Health (MS/MPH) Graduate Program, Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, Hunter College, City University of New York, Associate Professor, HBSON, Hunter College, CUNY. Dr. Aponte received a DNSc in Nursing from Columbia  University, 2004. She completed her MSN in Nursing Administration in 1998 and her BSN in 1994 from HBSON, NY. She has reviewed manuscripts of peer-reviewed journals on topics related to diabetes. Dr. Aponte has numerous publications, international presentations, and has conducted research on diabetes and its risk factors, specifically as it affects the Hispanic population.  She is one of the few US researchers whose work has acknowledged Hispanics as a heterogeneous, not homogeneous, group, and diabetes-related issues that affect different Hispanic subgroups.
