Biography

Dr. Kalyan Nagulapalli Venkata graduated with Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Osmania University, India. He came to US in 2001 to earn MS in Chemistry from Illinois State University, Normal, IL and later completed his Ph.D from University of Southern California under the guidance of Professor Nicos Petasis. After graduation, he joined AMRI, Albany, NY in a senior research scientist role in the medicinal chemistry department, where he was involved in the development of late stage cardiovascular drugs for treatment of stroke and cardiac arrythmias. Currently he works as Postdoctoral research associate at University of Southern California. He is also involved in the development of novel methods for the synthesis of heterocycles such as Indole and Benzodiazepine like molecules.

Research Interest

His primary research focus involves the synthesis of potent anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer biomolecules (lipoxins, resolvins) and synthetic anti-cancer agents.
