Biography

Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. degree from University of California at Berkeley. Currently, he is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the department of Geography at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was trained as a remote sensing specialist. Particularly, his research falls in four directions: 1) coastal mangrove forest dynamics; 2) Invasive species spread modeling; 3) urban population estimation; 4) land cover and land use mapping and change studies. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles on leading remote sensing and GIScience journals. His work has been supported by National Science Foundation, United States Department of Agriculture, United States Geological Survey, etc. In addition, he was the recipient of 2008 Early Career award from the remote sensing specialty group of the American Association of Geographers.
