My background is human and environmental geography and environmental science, with GIS/Remote Sensing applications, in teaching, research and project applications. I have worked as a social scientist and GIS teacher and researcher in Canada and the UK, interacting with people at all levels (basic learners, knowledgeable customers, scientists, government agents and students). I have also researched as a environmental and social scientist, on biogeography, social ecology, environmental pollution, landscape change and nature/society relations, mostly with GIS applications at micro and macro levels. These interactions required intensive self-motivation and team work, and strong, continually evolving and innovative interpersonal and organizational skills, and utilisation of GIS library resources. My PhD included in-depth analysis of social theory, human geography techniques, environmental policy and environmentalism (including political ecology, regional histories of environmental politics and thought, and evolving environmentally related paradigms), theories of environmental governance with regional applications, indigenous environmental knowledges in the south- in Africa, and central America and Canada, both qualitative ethnographic methods and quantitative methods, and local environmental impacts of international issues such as economic growth and policy.

Research Interest

His research interestsinclude
Applications of geomatics to urban landscapes, urban ecology.
Mammal/human interactions in changing landscapes, assessed through remote sensing.
Recreation and the environment, especially game reserves and national parks.
Comparative studies of GIS and remote sensing packages for spatial analysis of forest change.
Applications of geomatics to the African, Central and North American landscape (especially forests and wildlife, and
local peoples' impacts).
Research Methodologies for landscape change (including statistics, geomatics and ecological surveys).
