Nicolas Gurtler

Biography

Nicolas Gürtler received the degree of medical doctor at the University of Basel, Switzerland. He is a board-certified Otolaryngologist currently employed at the Cantonal Hospital of Aarau, Switzerland, an academic tertiary referral institution. He completed a research-fellowship at the University of San Francisco, USA, with emphasis in genetic studies in otology. The degree of “Privatdozent” was given him by the University of Basel, where he is involved in regular teaching activities of medical students. He is special advisor for Otolaryngology for Orphanet, public database for rare diseases, and member of various national and international societies, such as Association for Research in Otolaryngology.

Research Interest

Main interest is translational and basic molecular-genetic studies in hereditary hearing loss.
