Biography

Dr. Iftimia has many years of experience in the biomedical research field. He is currently managing SBIR/STTR and CDMRP grants and had successfully completed several DoD and NIH research programs. He is a leader in the field of optical imaging, has served in the NIH/NCI review panels, is very active to professional meetings, and has a strong publication record.

He has experience in optical imaging, early disease diagnosis, and therapy guidance using optical approaches. His expertise in interferometric-based biomedical imaging systems is relevant to this program. He will manage the entire program and will lead the instrumentation team.

Research Interest

My area of expertise is biomedical optics with emphasis on disease diagnosis.

My research interests are:

-optical imaging and spectroscopy;

-cancer diagnosis;

-diagnosis of retinal diseases using optical approaches;

-contrast agents for targeting cancer cells;

-therapy monitoring using optical approaches.
